India Discovers Fuel Still Exists, Retail Traders Panic

India wants to blend oil with alternative fuels because oil costs too much and someone somewhere decided this was a plan. The government looked at high prices and supply constraints and thought, "What if we just used less oil?" Revolutionary stuff. Someone get the Ministry of Petroleum a participation trophy.

The blending push sparked backlash. Who could have seen that coming? You announce a massive shift in energy infrastructure that affects every person who drives a vehicle or runs a generator, and people have opinions about it. Stunning development. The kind of forward-thinking analysis that makes you wonder if anyone in charge has ever met a human being.

Energy security is the priority here, which means India looked at its import bills and decided depending on other countries for fossil fuels might not be a long-term winner. Smart. Except now they're forcing alternative fuel blends on a population that may or may not want them, and the backlash suggests the answer is "may not." But who cares what people want when you've got tariff pressures and a balance sheet that makes you sweat through your suit?

Retail traders are currently Googling "India energy stocks" and trying to figure out which company benefits from ethanol mandates. They're looking at charts. They're drawing lines. They're convinced this headline means something for their portfolio. It doesn't. Oil goes up, oil goes down, India blends some corn into it, and your three shares of an energy ETF still expire worthless because you bought at the top like you always do.

The real story is that India wants cheaper fuel and everyone else wants India to shut up about it. That's the whole thing. No technical pattern predicts nationalist energy policy, but sure, check your Fibonacci retracement on crude futures. I'm sure that'll help you time the ethanol revolution.
