Tesla Discovers Negative Numbers, Retail Traders Call It Bullish

Tesla missed earnings. Free cash flow went negative. Margins contracted. The stock was already falling before the report dropped.

Read that again. The company announced bad news on top of bad news while the stock was already getting hammered. That's not a bearish signal. That's not a contrarian setup. That's just a company doing worse while people were already running for the exits.

But the auto business is rebounding, the summary reminds us. Core operations looking stronger. Vehicle deliveries ticking up. All the fundamental metrics that matter to people who think fundamentals matter, which is the first mistake.

Some guy on Reddit right now is typing "TSLA to the moon" with one hand while his Robinhood account burns with the other. He's reading about negative free cash flow and thinking it means Tesla is so successful they ran out of places to put all the money. He's looking at compressed margins and assuming that's just Elon being generous to customers. Revolutionary stuff.

The technical picture says none of this matters. Price was falling before the news. Price will keep falling or stop falling based on where the orders are, not whether Tesla can generate positive cash flow. Charts don't care if your auto business is rebounding. They care if more people want to sell than buy at this price level.

Tesla could cure cancer tomorrow and the stock would still trade based on liquidity zones and momentum. They could announce zero revenue and it would rip 40% if the shorts got trapped. That's how this works. That's always how this worked.

Retail bought the earnings dip anyway because they read the headline about core auto business rebounding and thought that meant something. Now they're underwater on shares they bought with money they needed for rent, wondering why the market doesn't respect Elon's vision.

The market respects one thing: where the f*cking orders are.
