The company cited operational improvements. That's what you call it when you stop f*cking up the thing you've been building for seventy years. Resilient vehicle pricing means people kept paying too much. High sales mix of profitable products means they sold expensive shit instead of cheap shit.
Retail traders saw the headline and bought calls at open. They read "recovery is on track" and assumed track meant up. Track just means it exists. A track can lead anywhere. Most lead off a cliff.
The guidance got raised because Ford looked at Q2 and thought maybe they won't completely eat dick in Q3. That's guidance now. Marginally less catastrophic than previously anticipated.
F-Series recovery is on track. The recovery started because the problem existed. The problem existed because Ford created it. Now they fixed the problem they made and want credit. That's like burning down your house and then asking for praise when you buy a fire extinguisher.
