Meta is building a data center in Canada. The first big one. Up there where it's cold and healthcare exists.
This is AI expansion. Crossing borders. Like the company needed permission from a country that apologizes when you step on their foot.
The angle here is supposed to be geographic. Meta goes north. Servers need cooling. Canada has winter. Groundbreaking stuff. Really pushing the limits of what constitutes a business decision.
Nobody asked where the other data centers are. Nobody cares. They're everywhere. Virginia. Iowa. Sweden. Places where land is cheap and electricity flows. Now add Canada to the list of places with concrete boxes full of GPUs that will teach teenagers how to write better breakup texts.
The AI expansion part is the hook. Everything is AI now. Data centers were boring when they just hosted Facebook photos of your aunt's cat. Now they train models. Suddenly it's expansion. Suddenly it crosses borders like some kind of digital invasion force.
Canada gets one data center and acts like they landed the Olympics. Meanwhile Meta is building these things faster than your portfolio loses value on a Thursday. Which is every Thursday. Because you bought calls on a company that sells banner ads and called it your retirement plan.
The border crossing means nothing. Data does not care about customs. It does not need a passport. It does not get asked if it has anything to declare. It just moves through fiber optic cables at the speed of light while you refresh your brokerage app wondering why the stock you bought at the top keeps going down.
This is not news. This is a press release with a maple leaf emoji. Meta builds infrastructure where infrastructure makes sense. You bought shares because someone on Reddit said the metaverse was inevitable.
