Trump announced his new tariffs do the same thing as the tariffs the Supreme Court just struck down. He said this out loud. On purpose. Like a man explaining to a cop that his new gun works exactly like his illegal gun.
The Supreme Court ruled the previous tariffs unconstitutional. Trump's response was to design new tariffs that accomplish the identical economic outcome through a slightly different procedural mechanism. This is the legal equivalent of robbing a bank with your left hand after getting arrested for robbing it with your right.
Affordability is the defining issue of the 2026 midterms. Voters are furious about prices. Trump's solution involves import taxes that raise prices on everything from toothpaste to tractors. Bold strategy.
Retail traders are currently scanning their portfolios trying to figure out which stocks benefit from constitutional crisis meets trade war. They're typing "tariff stocks" into Google. They're buying steel ETFs. They're convinced this is their moment.
It's not their moment.
The technical setup doesn't care about Supreme Court decisions. It doesn't care about midterm elections. It doesn't care that the President just admitted to doing the thing he's not allowed to do. Price action moves on order flow and sentiment. Everything else is noise performed by people in suits pretending their jobs matter.
Somewhere a day trader just opened a position in a Chinese import-export company because he thinks he's playing 4D chess. He's about to learn that constitutional law and trading profits have never met and they're not starting now.
