Talarico is a Democrat running for Senate in Texas. He was scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Now he's not. The FCC under Trump has been leaning on broadcasters about this rule, which has existed since 1934 but apparently needed fresh enforcement right before the 2026 midterms. Perfect timing. No agenda detected.
ABC's parent company Disney probably ran the numbers. Air one Senate candidate talking to a late-night host, then field requests from every lunatic running for office in America who wants their own comedy segment. Or just spike the interview and pretend it never happened. They went with option two.
The network that airs The Bachelor just decided political discourse was too complicated to navigate. They can orchestrate 30 women fighting over a pharmaceutical sales rep named Brayden, but equal time rules broke their brains.
