AI Token Holders Discover New Ways to Lose Money

AI token prices hit record lows this week. A closely followed measure confirmed what everyone who bought these things already knew in their bones. They're worth less now than ever before.

The tokens exist because someone decided artificial intelligence needed its own currency. Why? Nobody knows. AI runs on electricity and Nvidia chips, not speculative garbage coins that fluctuate based on which teenager tweets about them. But here we are.

Retail traders saw "AI" and "token" in the same sentence and apparently experienced a complete neurological shutdown. The part of the brain responsible for questions like "what does this actually do" or "why would I own this" just stopped firing. They clicked buy anyway.

Record lows mean someone bought at record highs. That person woke up one morning, looked at their portfolio, and decided the smart move was buying tokens tied to a technology they definitely don't understand using blockchain they definitely don't understand. Double ignorance. Impressive.

The closely followed measure touched fresh lows, which is financial journalism speak for "it kept going down." Tomorrow it might touch even fresher lows. Next week, the freshest lows yet. There's no bottom here, just increasingly creative ways to describe the same continuous decline.

Technical analysis says the tokens are oversold. My analysis says they were overbought at any price above zero. The difference is I'm right.

Some trader is averaging down right now, buying more tokens at these record lows, certain this is the bottom. He's writing "generational buying opportunity" in a Discord server where nobody has ever made money. He'll average down again next month at even lower record lows. Then again. Then he'll discover his wife changed the brokerage password and he'll blame her for missing the recovery that will never come.

The measure will keep touching fresh lows until it touches zero, and even then someone will insist it's a buying opportunity.
