Anthropic filed its S-1 Monday. Investors are split. Roger McNamee calls it "speculative fiction." Others call it a generational moment. Both camps agree on one thing: they have not finished reading it.
The bulls cite 1,300% sales growth. The bears cite an $80.7 billion net loss in the first half of 2026. Same company. Same document. Different personalities.
Here is the ticker. ANT. Anthropic will list on Nasdaq under ANT. Think about the animal. It carries fifty times its body weight. It also gets stepped on by children for fun. Retail traders will be the second thing.
The price range is blank. The share count is blank. Valuation talk runs from $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion, and none of it is confirmed. So the hottest IPO in history is a Mad Libs with a trillion-dollar word missing.
Retail investors will still buy it. One told a reporter he plans a "tactical short-term trade." Tactical. You are a man with a brokerage app and a dream. The only tactic you have is hope with a stop-loss.
Here is the governance part. Seven cofounders, including Dario and Daniela Amodei, will control 50.1% of the voting power through something called Founder LLC. You get shares. They get the steering wheel. You are not a shareholder. You are a passenger with a receipt.
Each cofounder holds about 240 million shares. At $58.90, that is roughly $14 billion apiece. At the rumored IPO valuation, closer to $28 billion. They promised to give most of it away. That is the most generous thing anyone will do near this stock.
The prospectus runs over 90 pages of risk factors. You will read none of them. You will read the ticker, see an ant, and think "small but mighty."
Bears say train wreck. Bulls say generational. Both are right. Generations of retail traders will remember where they were when they bought the open.
