CEO Declares Victory Over Accusations That Haven't Stopped

Zach Witkoff runs World Liberty Financial. The company links to Trump. Witkoff says the stablecoin works great. He says this proves there's no cronyism. That's the argument. A thing exists, therefore corruption doesn't.

This logic would've saved Nixon a lot of trouble. "Your Honor, the Watergate Hotel is still standing. Charges dismissed."

World Liberty Financial launched a stablecoin. People can buy it. It functions as intended, which for a stablecoin means it stays pegged to a dollar and doesn't explode into worthless tokens overnight. The bar sits so low you could trip over it in a basement. Witkoff cleared it and now he's spiking the football.

The conflict-of-interest concerns were never about whether the product worked. They were about who profits and who decides. But Witkoff figured out the cheat code. Just say the concerns are misplaced. Redirect to product performance. Ignore the actual question. It's like responding to an embezzlement charge by saying your car gets great gas mileage.

Retail traders will read this headline and think it means something. They'll see "success of stablecoin" and assume smart money validated the project. They'll buy in because a CEO said conflict concerns are misplaced, as if CEOs are known for their unbiased self-assessment. These are the same people who bought Luna because the founder said it was mathematically impossible to fail.

Witkoff's title is CEO of a Trump-linked financial venture that launched during an election cycle. His last name is Witkoff. His defense strategy is "it works, doesn't it?" The stablecoin maintains its peg and somehow that's supposed to silence questions about governance and incentives. By that standard, every Ponzi scheme that paid out for six months was vindicated.

The Trump family remains involved. The concerns remain unaddressed. But the stablecoin hasn't collapsed yet, so Witkoff gets to declare mission accomplished and retail gets to learn what "misplaced" really means when the SEC comes asking questions.
