Chase Bank wants you to know their business card bonus is ending soon. They've said this before. They will say it again. Urgency sells. Nothing actually ends.
The two cards in question are the Ink Business Preferred and the Ink Business Cash. Both offer $1,000 in bonus value if you spend enough money that you were probably going to spend anyway. Revolutionary stuff. Chase has discovered that if you pay people to use credit cards, they will use credit cards. Someone in their marketing department got promoted for this.
The catch is you need a business. And before you ask, no, selling your old PlayStation on Facebook Marketplace does not count. Although thousands of people will apply claiming it does. Chase will approve half of them because they've done the math and know exactly how much interest revenue they'll extract over the next eighteen months.
Should you apply? That depends. Do you enjoy spending three hours filling out forms to earn what you could make working four shifts at Target? Do you like tracking spending categories and minimum spend requirements like it's your second job? Do you dream of optimizing your cash back strategy while your actual business hemorrhages money because you're too busy reading credit card blogs?
The bonus "ends soon" which in credit card marketing means it ends when they've hit their acquisition target or when they need to goose next quarter's numbers by running the exact same promotion again. This is the financial equivalent of a mattress store going out of business sale. The store never closes. The sale never ends. Only the suckers change.
But sure, go ahead and apply. Chase needs to meet their quarterly cardholder growth projections, and you need to feel like you're building wealth by collecting signup bonuses instead of running a profitable business.
