Democrats Might Win Congress. Your Portfolio Will Still Lose Alone.

Wall Street is nervous about the 2026 midterms. Analysts are studying how a Democratic sweep could hit Treasury yields, AI, energy, banks, defense and healthcare.

That is every sector. They have gone from predicting the market to listing the market.

Here is my forecast. The chart does not know what a midterm is. The chart has never voted. The chart does not have a mother-in-law who sends it articles.

Strategists love this game. A sweep means new taxes, new regulation, new hearings. A split means gridlock. A Republican hold means more of the same. Every outcome moves stocks, according to people who are paid whether or not they are right.

Pick a sector. Healthcare could rise. Healthcare could fall. Banks could rally on clarity or sink on scrutiny. Defense stocks could jump on spending or slump on cuts. Energy could do anything, which is what energy does every Tuesday.

AI gets its own worry line. Lawmakers might regulate it. Or they might not. Nvidia has survived export rules, tariffs and your cousin's group chat. It will survive a subcommittee.

Treasury yields are the real nail-biter. Bond traders will watch the results like a wife watching a phone that just lit up. Nobody knows what happens next. Everyone will act like they called it.

Retail traders will read all of this and do something. They will buy defense calls because a headline said defense. They will sell their index fund because a pundit said sweep. They will check their account at 3 a.m. on election night, refreshing the futures like it owes them money.

Sweet kids. Bless them. They think Congress is a catalyst. Congress is a weather event that happens to people who own shares of weather.

Here is what I know. Support is at 4,800 or whatever the line is this week. Resistance is wherever you bought. Elections come and go. Your cost basis is forever.

Vote if you like. Your ballot counts once. Your options expire worthless on schedule.
