Lululemon Announces Yoga Pants Now Optional

Lululemon dropped twenty percent because people stopped buying hundred-dollar leggings at the rate Wall Street demanded. The stock chart now looks like a downward dog that pulled a hamstring.

Analysts expected growth. They got a sales slowdown instead. The company posted disappointing results and an outlook so weak it made retail traders reconsider their entire relationship with athleisure. One guy in New Jersey sold his shares and immediately felt his chakras realign.

The technical picture tells you everything fundamental analysis cannot. Support levels broke. Moving averages crossed over like disappointed yoga instructors switching studios. The fifty-day punched through the two-hundred-day and kept going. None of this had anything to do with quarterly earnings or forward guidance or whatever executive said whatever on the conference call.

But retail traders heard "disappointing" and "struggles to turn around" and decided this was valuable information. They sold. They panicked. They googled "is Lululemon going bankrupt" at two in the morning while eating cold pizza in their old gym shorts.

The price went down because more people sold than bought. That is the entire story. The rest is noise dressed up as analysis, wrapped in a conference call, and delivered by someone who has never once checked a resistance level before speaking to investors.

Chart said sell at eighty-two dollars. Price hit eighty-two dollars three weeks ago. Technical traders took profit. Fundamental traders waited for earnings to "confirm their thesis" and watched twenty percent of their account value disappear while they were confirming.

The company will recover or it will not. The stock will go up or it will go down. None of that depends on whether their stretchy pants met analyst expectations for stretchy pant revenue in a fiscal quarter nobody will remember in six months.

Somewhere right now a guy who bought at the top is telling himself this is a great entry point for dollar-cost averaging.
