Morgan Stanley Finds $15B Under Couch Cushions for AI Hype

Nexus Data Centers needs fifteen billion dollars to build a data center for Anthropic. Google backs Anthropic. Morgan Stanley will lend the money. Everyone involved has convinced themselves this makes sense.

Fifteen billion. With a B. For a building that will house computers so an AI chatbot can tell you how to make a grilled cheese sandwich in the tone of Shakespeare. The loan is larger than the GDP of 47 countries. Morgan Stanley looked at this deal and said yes, this is a responsible allocation of capital in the year 2026.

Google already owns a piece of Anthropic. Now they need Nexus to build them a palace. Nexus needs Morgan Stanley to float them more money than most humans will see in a thousand lifetimes. The circle of artificial intelligence is complete. At no point did anyone ask if we need this.

Retail traders will read this headline and immediately start Googling "How do I buy Nexus stock?" They cannot. Nexus is private. They will then Google "How do I buy Morgan Stanley?" They can. They will buy three shares at market open and tell their wives they are early investors in the AI revolution. Their wives will not care.

The data center will get built. The servers will hum. Anthropic will train models that are seventeen percent better at tasks no one needed automated. Morgan Stanley will collect fees that would make a Renaissance pope blush. Google will issue a press release about responsibility and safety. None of this will matter to your portfolio.

Fifteen billion dollars so a chatbot can pass the bar exam it will never take.
