The RNC said Thursday that ,"previously planned in-person rallies in those states will no longer take place as scheduled.", The stated reason was that Republicans were in a strong position in Kansas and Iowa. Strong positions are famously easy to hold from a phone.
Then Friday arrived. ,The rallies in Kansas and Iowa were back on, both now scheduled for Sunday.,
The RNC's new explanation: scheduling. A source said the events were ,"rearranged for scheduling purposes", to fit in more tele-rallies. That is the corporate way of saying a guy yelled.
Because a guy did. Trump said Thursday that ,he didn't "feel I have to go to Kansas", because Sen. Roger Marshall was doing well. Friday, he said ,friends in Iowa and Kansas called asking him to reconsider., He added that he tried to talk them out of it. He pitched them a telerally. They said no. He is now doing two rallies on Sunday.
CNN reported that ,staff who had just pulled the events off the calendar were left scrambling to put them back on., Somewhere, an RNC intern deleted two calendar entries and recreated them in under a day. Put that on the résumé.
The schedule is now ,nearly 20 tele-rallies plus back-to-back stops in Kansas and Iowa,. Trump also asked, in effect, that nobody wonder about his stamina. ,"I feel perfect,", he said. Nothing says perfect like a three-state itinerary that changes twice before the weekend.
The original plan had him in Salina, Kansas, Saturday and Dubuque, Iowa, Sunday. Salina and Dubuque went from "no longer necessary" to "mandatory" in one news cycle. Those are the two most volatile assets in America this week, and neither trades.
Retail traders will try to read this as a signal. Cancel means strong. Uncancel means weak. Re-uncancel means something about Fibonacci. Stop. It was a man, a phone, and a calendar.
The RNC's cancellation lasted shorter than most of your options positions, and it went down with a better explanation.
