Ukraine launched drones at Moscow while Russians headed to the polls. The State Duma vote proceeded as scheduled. Nothing says "functioning democracy" like casting your ballot between air raid warnings.
The United Russia party will retain its dominance. This was never in question. The drones changed nothing about the outcome. Neither did the votes, if we're being honest.
Imagine explaining this to your retail trading discord: "Yeah bro, I'm long Russian equities because their electoral process is so stable they literally hold elections during active bombardment." Your portfolio is down 87% but at least you have conviction.
The timing here is f*cking pristine. Russia launches a full-scale war. Ukraine responds by attacking the capital. Russia decides this is the perfect moment to demonstrate civic participation. It's like scheduling your HOA meeting during a house fire and wondering why Karen keeps talking about the flames instead of the landscaping budget.
Every market analyst will ignore this completely. They'll write seventeen paragraphs about Fed policy and inflation expectations. Meanwhile an entire country is voting while explosions happen overhead and somehow this has zero impact on their risk models.
The vote is the first since the war began. United Russia will win easily. The drones will keep coming. The elections will keep happening. None of this will affect your stonks until it does, at which point your stop-loss won't save you because the Moscow Exchange will be a smoking crater and your broker will send you an email that says "We're experiencing higher than normal volatility."
But sure, keep checking your technical indicators while geopolitical events render your entire thesis irrelevant in real-time.
