Scandinavian Country Refuses to Validate Man's Feelings

Trump spent four years waiting for a call from Oslo that never came. Each year he checked. Each year they picked someone else. Each year he announced his disappointment to anyone holding a microphone.

The man brokered a deal between Israel and the UAE. Nominated twice. Lost to the World Food Programme and Maria Ressa. The World Food Programme feeds hungry people, which apparently counts more than a handshake ceremony in the Rose Garden.

Now he's calling it an indelible stain. On Norway. A country of five million people who produce oil and winter athletes. Their reputation hangs in the balance because they failed to ship a medal to Mar-a-Lago.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee does not respond to pressure campaigns. They gave one to Obama eight months into his first term for not being George W. Bush. They gave one to Kissinger while Cambodia was still smoking. But Trump was too much.

He wanted it so badly he said it out loud. Every year. That's the part that hurts. You're supposed to pretend you don't care. You're supposed to let your supporters float your name while you humbly demur. He skipped that step and went straight to complaining about not winning.

Retail traders do this too. They buy shares of a company, announce their price target in a Reddit thread, then blame short sellers when it drops forty percent. The stock didn't fail them. They failed the stock. Norway didn't fail Trump. Trump failed to understand that wanting something very badly and saying so repeatedly does not manifest that thing into existence.

The stain is indelible though. Norway will never recover from this public shaming by a man who still thinks he deserved a trophy for talking to Kim Jong Un twice.
