Trump and Elon Musk just lit hundreds of millions of dollars on fire and the polls moved less than your portfolio during a dead cat bounce. Hundreds of millions. The kind of money that could buy a small nation's GDP or at least rent it for a weekend. Spent on ads, rallies, and whatever the f*ck Elon does when he's not tanking Tesla stock with his tweets. Result? Nothing. The needle didn't budge. The map stayed frozen. Voters looked at the billion-dollar blitz and said no thanks, we're good.
This is the part where someone explains that money doesn't buy elections anymore. That narrative matters. That authenticity wins. Which is hilarious because these are the same people who spent a billion dollars assuming money would buy elections.
The GOP poured cash into races like a degenerate at a craps table convinced the next roll fixes everything. Double down. Triple down. Quadruple down until the house takes your car keys and your dignity. Trump-aligned groups wrote checks so big they needed their own ZIP codes. Musk probably funded an entire super PAC between his morning coffee and his afternoon ketamine session.
And yet here we are. Polls unmoved. Races unchanged. The electorate shrugging at the money cannon like it's a penny stock pump-and-dump scheme they've seen twelve times this month.
Retail traders do this exact same thing. Throw money at a losing position because surely volume solves everything. Surely if I just buy more shares at a worse price the market will respect my commitment. The market does not respect your commitment. Voters do not respect your Super Bowl ad spend. Both will take your money and give you nothing but a lesson you'll ignore next time.
Somewhere a campaign consultant is explaining to a furious donor that actually the polls are wrong and the vibes are immaculate, which is exactly what your broker told you before your meme stock went to zero.
