Greer Confirms Nobody Cares About Your Modi-Trump Fan Fiction

U.S. trade representative Greer announced a deal with India is not imminent. This came after a phone call between Modi and Trump. Retail traders who spent the last week pricing in a breakthrough based on a scheduled phone call have discovered that two men talking does not constitute binding international law.

The headline contains the word "imminent" which means someone asked Greer if a deal was imminent. Greer said no. This counts as news in 2026. A government official answered a question with a single word and Bloomberg wrote six hundred words about it.

India faces tariffs up to 100% for buying Russian oil. They have been buying Russian oil for over a year. The U.S. has been mad about it for over a year. Nothing has changed except the number of times Greer has been asked to comment on it. Greer gets paid whether or not a deal happens. India gets cheap oil whether or not Greer approves. Russia gets paid in rupees it cannot spend. Everyone loses except the guy selling rupees to Russia at a markup.

Ties between the two countries have been strained. This is diplomat-speak for "we sent twelve emails and they replied to three." Strain in international relations means absolutely nothing until someone moves a warship. No warships have moved. No deals have been signed. No tariffs have been implemented. Greer said one word and you read four hundred words about it.

The technical setup remains unchanged. The 50-day moving average does not care about phone calls. Support and resistance levels do not shift because Greer used the word imminent in a sentence. Your stop loss will not be saved by a trade deal that does not exist.

Somewhere right now a retail trader is refreshing his Modi-Trump Google Alert waiting for the follow-up call that will save his portfolio.
