Markets hate uncertainty. So they waited for an election result. Then they bought Apple. Brilliant.
Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft all rose after the midterms. Five companies worth trillions. Celebrating a vote they cannot cast.
Elon Musk-linked stocks fell on Wednesday. So did data center names. The AI buildout, the thing everyone swore was forever, took a Wednesday off.
Here is the chart analysis. Stocks went up. Other stocks went down. A candle formed. I have drawn a line under it.
The theory is that certainty is bullish. Yesterday nobody knew who controlled what. Today everybody knows. Nothing else changed. Apple still makes the same phone, in the same color, at the same price that makes you wince.
Retail traders will call this a thesis. They will say they saw it coming. They did not. They bought Tesla calls on Tuesday because a man on a podcast had a feeling.
Musk advises Trump. Musk stocks fell. Data centers fell. Somewhere a guy with a leveraged ETF and a mortgage is learning geography, specifically where the bottom is.
Meta, Microsoft and Google gained on election news. Imagine explaining that to a farmer. He would nod politely and go back to growing something.
I do not read the news. The news is a weather report for people who never go outside. Tomorrow the pundits will explain Wednesday perfectly, the way a coroner explains Tuesday.
Hold your shares if you like. The market will remember you the way a vending machine remembers your dollar.
