RBC Analyst Discovers Buy Button, Dell Up 350%

Dell stock jumped because RBC Capital Markets initiated coverage. Not resumed coverage. Not upgraded coverage. Initiated. As in RBC just now decided this company deserved their attention. The stock is up 350% in 2026 and some analyst at a Canadian bank woke up in September and thought "you know what, I should probably look into this."

The timing here is flawless. Dell already ran from whatever it was trading at in January to a number four times higher. Retail traders already bought. Already told their cousins. Already set their price alerts to numbers that would require a stock split. And now, nine months into the year, RBC arrives with a briefcase full of hot takes about AI servers.

The company sold $16.4 billion in AI servers last quarter. RBC wrote this down. Put it in a report. Sent it to clients who pay for research. Those clients read that Dell sold AI servers and the stock went up. Groundbreaking stuff. Really earned that fee.

Some guy named Trevor bought Dell at $180 after reading the RBC note this morning. He does not know what an AI server is. He does not know what RBC stands for. He thinks initiation coverage means Dell just went public. Trevor is up 8% today and believes he is smarter than Warren Buffett. Trevor will hold until the stock splits or until he needs to make his Nissan Altima payment, whichever comes first.

The best part about analyst initiations on parabolic stocks is they never initiate on the way down. When Dell gives back 200% next year, RBC will downgrade from outperform to hold and act like they saw it coming. They will cite valuation concerns. They will mention competitive pressures. They will not mention that they started coverage at the top like a f*cking Zillow iBuyer algorithm in 2021.

But sure, the news matters. The fundamentals matter. RBC's opinion matters. That's why the stock moved 350% before anyone there opened Excel.
