Trump Endorses Netanyahu Twice, Denies Being Asked Even Once

Trump endorsed Netanyahu on Sunday. Then he reposted it. Then he told reporters Monday he never spoke to Netanyahu about it.

Fine. Nobody asked. Trump just kept volunteering, like a man handing out flyers for a restaurant he doesn't own.

Israelis voted Tuesday. Netanyahu has ruled for nearly 17 years with a few gaps. That is longer than most retail traders hold a thesis, and longer than any of them hold a marriage.

The pitch from Trump was to "finish the job" on Iran. Finish the job. Every retail trader says that before averaging down.

The polls say neither Netanyahu's bloc nor Gadi Eisenkot's bloc reaches 61 seats. Nobody wins. Everyone gets a coalition negotiation instead. It is a bear market with a parliament.

Turnout hit nearly 56% by 4 p.m., the highest at that point since 1973. Israelis are showing up in record numbers to choose between two men who both ruled out governing with the Arab-led parties that could decide the whole thing. Democracy is a limit order that never fills.

Wartime leadership is on the ballot. So is military conscription for the ultra-Orthodox, and an economy spending around 8% of GDP on defense. Fascinating. None of it moves my moving averages.

The headline says Trump urged voters to return Netanyahu to power. Voters in a different country were told how to vote by a man who says he never discussed it. If a guy at your gym did that, you'd change gyms.

Somewhere a retail trader is asking how this affects the shekel. It doesn't. Your portfolio was already conceded.
