Trump declared an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine. Not a ceasefire. An energy ceasefire. Which means exactly nothing, but sounds like something a guy who skims bullet points would say at a press conference.
Zelenskyy is waiting for details from Washington. He's been waiting for details his entire presidency. First it was javelin missiles. Then it was aid packages. Now it's whatever the f*ck an energy ceasefire is supposed to mean when one country is actively bombing another country's power grid.
The technical setup here is flawless. Retail traders are currently googling "energy ceasefire ETF" and wondering if they should buy shares in Gazprom. They're checking if there's a leveraged peace dividend play. They're asking ChatGPT if this means oil goes up or down. The answer is neither, because words without definitions don't move markets, but that won't stop them from panic-buying something stupid.
Trump used the word "energy" because it sounds important. Zelenskyy used the phrase "waiting for details" because he's a professional who knows you can't respond to a policy that doesn't exist. One of these men runs a country at war. The other one just made up a term that will be forgotten by Tuesday.
The chart says nothing. The headline says nothing. The policy says nothing. But some guy in Michigan just put his entire Roth IRA into a natural gas ETF because he thinks energy ceasefire means Putin and Zelenskyy are about to hold hands and drill for oil together.
They're not.
