Blue Wave Hits Congress, Retail Trader Still Holding Calls

Democrats took Congress. Your portfolio did not notice.

CNBC says this affects your money. Healthcare. Taxes. Student loans. Social Security. Four topics, one conclusion: someone will promise something, and nothing will happen for eighteen months.

Here is the forecast. Both parties will hold hearings. Senators will frown at a poster board. A bill will be named after an acronym nobody can pronounce. Then the bill will die in committee, quietly, like your options position.

The headline says "blue wave." Waves recede. That is the whole point of waves. You are watching a very expensive tide chart and calling it analysis.

Retail traders will now rotate into healthcare stocks. Then out. Then into "tax-advantaged" something. They will read one tweet, one chart, and one headline with the word "agenda" in it. Then they will buy the top.

I looked at the chart. It did the same thing it always does. It went up, then down, then sideways while a man named Kyle explained it on a podcast.

Social Security is on the list. You are twenty-nine. You have been told it will run dry before you retire. You are responding by buying a leveraged ETF at 3 a.m. That is not a strategy. That is a cry for help with a ticker symbol.

Student loans are also on the list. Congress will debate them with the urgency of a man looking for his car keys. You will refresh your loan portal anyway. Nothing will change. The balance will still be there. It is loyal that way.

Taxes may change too. Probably. Eventually. Possibly in a form that requires a new box on a form you already file incorrectly.

Here is what the blue wave means for your money. It means the same thing a red wave meant. Your money goes where it always goes. Away from you, toward someone with a lobbyist.

Congratulations to the Democrats on winning Congress. Your brokerage account has been trying to lose it for years.
