Democrats plan to investigate Trump's energy deals. Venezuela. Mineral agreements. Cancelled energy projects. Three subpoena-shaped buffets.
Hearings will follow. Strongly worded letters will follow the hearings. A press conference will follow the letters. Nothing will follow the press conference.
Here is my technical read. The chart for "accountability" has been flat since the Eisenhower administration. Resistance at every level. Support nowhere. I have drawn a line under it. The line is also flat.
Venezuela is the juicy one. American intervention. Oil underneath. Nobody in Washington has ever connected those two facts before, so expect real surprise in the hearing room.
The mineral deals come next. Rare earths, lithium, the stuff in your phone that you will keep using while reading about this on it.
Then the cancelled projects. Money already approved, spent on planning, then killed. Democrats will ask where it went. Someone will say "the process." A senator will nod gravely and check his watch.
Retail traders will buy energy stocks on the headlines. Then sell them on the other headlines. Then call it "doing research." You treat a committee calendar like an earnings report. Your portfolio is a hostage video with a ticker symbol.
The rest of us get a season of C-SPAN with better lighting.
Investigations take years. Energy markets take minutes. You will be dead before the final report, and your index fund will be a spreadsheet nobody opens.
Buy the rumor. Sell the hearing. Frame the loss and hang it next to your diploma in "Trading."
