Six Flags Adds Seat Belts to Seat Belt-Free Coaster

Install seat belts. On a roller coaster. In 2026.

Six Flags Entertainment Corp., ticker FUN, has announced this innovation. The ride is Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia. It is ,200 feet tall and reaches speeds up to 70 mph,. Its restraint was ,a waist restraint, with no over-the-shoulder harness,.

Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, 42, ,died on October 12, after being ejected from his seat. Nothing here is funny. The press release is another matter.

CEO John Reilly said the company is ,"adding seat belts on Goliath and other coasters with a similar restraint.", Read that again. Adding seat belts. Like a firmware update. Like dark mode.

Three rides get belts so far: ,Goliath, Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure, and Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America,. Six Flags also ,engaged independent engineers and ride inspection specialists,. A belt is a strap. You click it. The engineers are presumably billing hourly.

To be fair, Reilly said ,he takes that responsibility personally,. That is a lot of responsibility to take personally. Most people can't hold that much.

The cause remains unannounced. ,Georgia authorities have not announced an official cause., Six Flags is not saying the old restraint failed. It is saying the new restraint is a belt. Both can be true. Lawyers love that.

Retail traders will now check FUN for a dip and call it an entry. Some will draw a support line at the spot where a man fell. They will call it a double bottom. It is a coaster.

Technical analysis says nothing about any of this. Neither does the chart. A candle cannot tell you why a lap bar needed a seatbelt's help.

Eight other coasters at five other parks sit closed. They are the only ones in the portfolio behaving like the stock should.
